Blog
Blog is the shortened, but accepted term for "web log". A blog is a web page that contains entries in reverse chronological order, with the most recent entry on top, and most have the added ability for readers to leave comments. This ability to record comments, so that the author can have a conversation with their readers, is what makes blogging so powerful. A blog might provide news or commentary on a particular subject, or be a more personal online diary of the author. It might combine text, images, and links to other blogs, other web pages, or other media related to the topic or particular article.
We also talk about blogging, and use the word as a verb - to blog e.g. "I'm going to blog about that later". The articles are called blog posts, posts or simply blogs.
Audio blogs can be called podcasts, and video blogs are sometimes shortened to vlogs.
There are many tools for creating blogs, including Blogger, TypePad, WordPress, WordFrame, Movable Type, and LiveJournal.
Blogroll
A list of the author's recommended blog sites and links that appear somewhere in one of the side columns of a blog. These might be sites on a similar theme, sites that the blogger reads regularly, or sites that belong to the blogger's circle of friends or colleagues.
