Public Community RSS feeds

In WordFrame Community there are plenty of choices how you want to be notified for updated content. There are RSS feed for new post and comments based on community and author, update in the news or events, wiki documents. In the RSS feeds of WordFrame the whole content of the post is also delivered, as addition to the summary.

You have also the possibility to make your custom feed for tags and categories.

Private RSS feeds

Here is the place to add something interesting about a feature we call "Private RSS feeds". Now as worldwide adopted model of providing a feed to a secure content is to put the user name and the password as a plain content in your feed's URL. We think this is a huge security risk as these links can be easily caught by a proxy or from the web server.

That is why we introduced something called "Private RSS feeds". All communities marked as private, generate user specific RSS feeds. That means that the link for the feed for each user is different. Also the feed's URL is very hard to guess as it includes an encrypted token, based on the user name.

Benefits for the community managers are:

  • feeds are different for each user and it is easily to find from whom the feed URL leaked

Have in mind that as all the feeds in the system, the full post content is also provided in the feed.

If the user clicks on the link and wants to review the post as it is in the private group, he needs to login.
